Project Logline:
The documentary will start with a contextual overview of internet freedom, censorship, copyright laws, internet piracy, etc.
Synopsis:
In 2011, a wave protests and revolutions spread across the planet. Time magazine named The Protester as their person of the year. On every continent, citizens stood up to protest human rights abuses, corrupt governments, and corporate money poisoning the political process. Information about these protests and resources to aid in the movements spread across the world in real-time. Now, with copyright enforcement legislation being considered in many countries, protesters are rallying to oppose the interests of corporate lobbyists. This documentary seeks to explore the world of the protesters by providing an inside look at the lives of several members of the Boycott Hollywood movement, and the Internet Hacktivist group, Anonymous, as well as interviews with the activists juxtaposed with interviews of members of the MPAA and other related persons. The key question we wish to explore is the nature of internet censorship as a result of over-reaching copyright enforcement. We will also be exploring the open-source nature of the protests themselves and the different perspectives of the protesters themselves.
Unique Qualifications:
This documentary will be shot by members of the movement itself, providing the most intimate look into the lives of those involved.
